TestFlight now lets any developer upload Android apps, plans Android SDK launch in private beta

Excerpt: Popular app beta testing service TestFlight has announced that developers can now upload Android apps to its platform, and an Android SDK will launch next week for a small number of developers in private beta. Previously, Android app support was only available to a select few. Over the last 45 days, Testflight shared that 5,000 developers were granted access to the new feature and 4,500 apps were uploaded. Twitter acquiring scalable computation startup Ubalo

Yahoo acquires and shutters Google-ITA powered flight rewards app MileWise

Yahoo acquires GoPollGo polling service, shuts down all widgets, polls and properties

Excerpt: Today GoPollGo announced that it has been acquired by Yahoo Mobile. The online polling company hadn’t reached its third birthday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The service that GoPollGo has operated will be shuttered, with the company noting that it will “no longer be supporting GoPollGo’s properties on the site, embeddable widgets or mobile app. ” The company cited its usership as in the millions. The reason for the pickup is likely talent, given that GoPollGo had developed a mobile version of its technology, and Yahoo is desperate to grow its ranks of mobile developers. Yesterday’s downtime and today’s slowness

Excerpt: At Freshdesk, we know that our customers depend on us to support their customers. And we take our application availability and performance very seriously. However, we have had a very rough two days, with unexpected performance issues leading to a downtime yesterday that lasted for approximately 1. 34 hours. Starting from roughly 10:20 AM PST yesterday, some users started reporting serious performance issues. Our operations team immediately took to investigating the cause, and discovered that the system was repeatedly getting hung on a deadlock due to a suboptimal DB query hitting our database.
